In celebration of their first anniversary, the hilarious, talented, witty gents of Saison (23 W Marshall St, Richmond, Virginia 23220 – map and directions) hosted a first anniversary dinner featuring an amuse followed by six courses – each paired with a complimentary cocktail, wine or beer. Never much for the staid status quo, this dinner was whimsical, fun and full of hip-hop punnery; hence, the Big Pun Dinner. As a hip-hop fan and dining devotee, I knew this dinner experience was a rare opportunity to enjoy great music, awesome food, and a few great puns. (The
nerd English major in me will never turn down a great pun!) I had a cocktail (Foxy Brown Derby) to start and just as I was finishing my bittersweet bourbon drink, the amuse began. Thank you to Jay and Adam and the entire Saison crew for a fabulous dinner, and to my dining companions for good conversation and a few obnoxiously loud (in a good way) group karaoke moments.
